An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Information Governance and Freedom of Information Act Officer to join the Chief Executives Department at The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Information governance is a critical activity within NHS organisations because of the prevalence of highly sensitive personal data (both for patients and staff), and the need for this to be communicated effectively within and outside of the organisation as part of normal operational activities. Reporting to the Trust Secretary, you will assist the Senior Information Risk Officer in ensuring that sound corporate governance arrangements are in place, and that the IG toolkit is administered. The post holder will be an important link between the Information Asset Owners and the Senior Information Risk Officer.
The post-holder will also manage all FOI requests, maintain the FOI Database and provide training to all levels of staff in the statutory obligations and requirements of Data Protection through the use of presentations, group meetings, one to one discussions, printed and web based material, and any other methods of training as required.
This post offers an excellent opportunity for someone who has previous knowledge of NHS Information Governance, Caldicott Guardian Principles and FOI. The ideal candidate will have ISEB accreditation in FOI and Data Protection, knowledge of the IG toolkit or a relevant degree with a desire to undertake further training development towards accreditation.
